Randy & StacyWe made it! The flight was L O N G. . . . I’ve never been able to sleep on a plane and Stacy didn’t fare much better. 11 hours in the air is a long time (especially when you’re not used to international travel). They certainly fed us well though. I managed to find an open wireless network at somewhere within range here so I should be able to get a few posts made. At least from Moscow. We slept for a few hours after we arrived today (this morning or afternoon – I really can’t tell which it is right now). It’s about 11:30PM Saturday evening here right now (2:31 PM in the US).

While we’re in Moscow we’re staying with Marina. She’ll also be accompanying us on our trip to see Sasha tomorrow evening as well. She’s also be more than helpful and is probably one of the nicest and warmest people we’ve ever met. I’m sure you’ll hear more about her in future posts.

Our driver (Dima) met us at the airport right on time and we the entire process went surprisingly smoothly. Dima is great. He’s very funny and extremely familiar with the process we’re going through so he really made us feel comfortable. I can’t tell you how nice that is considering how far from home we are. I guess I’d have to say that so far it feels like we’re the ones being adopted into a very close family.

We leave for Cheboksary tomorrow evening via train (another 13 hours) but we’re going to spend the day tomorrow visiting many of the sites in Moscow like Red Square and the Kremlin and some other points of interest that Dima says we really must see while we’re here.

I’m uploading some photos to flickr and I’ll stick a few in here too just to give you an idea of what’s going on so far.

We can’t wait to meet our new son. Marina knows him very well and we’ve been asking questions non stop. The excitement is really starting to mount. Stay tuned….
